The Whoa post
I drank too much in college and ended up in a war
I am a devoted husband, dedicated father, and best friend to two bird dogs.
I spent my childhood fishing for trout and salmon in the lakes and streams of New England and hiking through the Appalachian Mountains.
I retired from the Army as an Infantry Command Sergeant Major after twenty five years of service including eight combat deployments. I was awarded the Silver Star for Gallantry during a fierce battle in 2007 near Sangin, Afghanistan, and the Purple Heart for an injury sustained in combat just a month later. I have graduated dozens of military schools including the Jumpmaster Course, two Sniper courses, and the grueling Army Ranger School.
I am an adult-onset hunter; I started bow hunting whitetail deer in 2012 and fell in love with duck hunting when I was introduced to it by a friend a few years later. This led to my first upland hunt on a preserve on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, which awoke a deep passion for upland hunting and bird dog training. Since then I’ve accumulated more hunting and training gear than any sane person should own.
I built The Whoa Post to build community within the hunting and dog training world. Whether we hunt large game, predators, varmints, fur, upland birds, waterfowl, or turkeys, we are all hunters. And whether we train pointers, flushers, retrievers, or hounds, we are all hunting dog enthusiasts. I hope to unite hunters and handlers and build one solitary culture for us all, for united we stand.
Stay Steady, and God Bless!
